Project Description

Australian Academy of Science

The Australian Research Network in the Philosophy and History of Molecular, Ecological and Evolutionary Biosciences is an initiative of the National Committee on History and Philosophy of Science of the Australian Academy of Science.

Australia has a grand tradition in the History and Philosophy of Science, dating back to the establishment of the first department in this discipline at the University of Melbourne in 1946. In recent years the country has become particularly prominent in the philosophy and history of the biosciences, with Australian researchers well-represented at most international meetings in the field. This network brings together the main centres of research and postgraduate training in to facilitate collaboration between researchers and to allow postgraduate students access to the widest range of professional opportunities.
